     AN ALTERNATIVE TO BIOLOGICAL METHODS

The rapid growth of the world‘s population has resulted in a sharp increase in wastewater volumes, posing major challenges to municipalities around the world. Biological-based processes often prove inadequate in practice, as municipal wastewater is often too critical to treat using standard aerobic and anaerobic digestion methods.

Continuous flow rates and various chemical parameters make the biological system very sensitive. Recent findings of antibiotic-resistant bacterial species and high hormone concentrations call into question the sustainability of bacteria-based methods. With the Clearstream system for the treatment of municipal wastewater, there is now an efficient and flexible alternative to previous biological methods.

THE CLEARSTREAM TECHNOLOGY FOR SEWAGE WATER TREATMENT

Clearstream‘s technology for sewage water treatment consists of chemical disinfection, removal of chemical and biological contaminants, and rapid flocculation and precipitation. Clearstream uses a special radicalbased (non-chlorine) chemical oxidation method that can destroy viral capsids, making this disinfection method superior to conventional chlorine-based oxidation. This method also does not produce disinfection by-products. Power consumption optimization and load balancing at the inlet are fully controlled by an intelligent control algorithm, also developed by Clearstream.
